Card sets

With this setting you can limit the base from which the cards selected to the board. You can use the setting with or without Forced New Card option. The game engine calculates the numbers of cards for your settings. The estimated card counts are in the right most column. Usually when you create the card settings, you look the column for the results.

You select and de-select the card sets with the clicks to Set name ( or description ). Right from the text  there is there is a bulb and edit box. With a bulb you control the usage of the edit box. When bulb is green the value from the box is used. When it is gray the value of the box is set to 100. Excluding Forced setting, where the bulb acts like the text.

"G" and "S" icons on the left tells you what kind of set this is. G means that the set is major set. All card sets with blue back and letter "S" ( right below the yellow "G" ) are sub groups for the major group. When you select major groups to your board, all sub groups are included into the selection.

When you click "G" or "S" with mouse, the game performs few mouse clicks for you. When you click Fashion "G", the whole board is filled with Fashion Set cards set only. ( If there are enough cards in the set for the selected board size ).

The rightmost field tells the estimations for the numbers of the cards. For each and every line. The number is estimation because it possible that the same card is in two different selection. The most typical situation is the one, when you select Fashion Set to your, and leave the Forced option on. If Forced option picks recently added Fashion cards into game, the same card is part of your Fashion card selection too. The real time calculator do not check Due the overlapping cards it is impossible to know actual card counts, before the board is created and actual cards are selected to the game / board.

Shift Forced

Shift forced setting adjusts the starting point / card of the Forced set. First you set card count from 0 to maximum card count. When the randomizer picks the cards to the set, it skips the number of days / cards down in the card base. The forced option uses chronological index for picking the cards -  The cards are in the order they were added to the game.

After you create a new card set for the game with forced option on, the number on the right tells you the position of the starting card. In the current forced set.

Shift Forced option is not currently stored to favorite string, it was considered to be almost useless / harmful in favorite string.

Pressing enter in the field executes "To Game" function, so that it is easier to search certain cards from the card base.

Forced

Forced setting has two on-screen buttons. The clicks to the "Forced" in the game area either disables or enables the setting in the settings. Right beside the "Forced" on-off link there is an edit box entering the amount of the recently added cards. The amount you give to the box is percentage. When you set box value 100, all cards are recently added new cards.

When Forced setting is on, the Forced setting overrides Card Sets settings. When New Card setting is on, all new cards are added to the board. Regardless of your Card Sets setting. If you have selected only Animals to your board, and there is new plant card in the game. The new plant card will be on your board.

All

When Card setting is All ( the text All is green ), all cards from the card base are used to select cards to the board.

When you click other selections, card groups with green texts are used for selecting cards to the table. When the board needs more cards than  there is in your selection, all cards from your selection are always in the game, and the game engine fills your boards with randomly selected cards.

With All bulb-box system you control the amount of the selected cards. The box tells the percentage / number of the cards which are selected with the Set options. When percent is less than 100, and the bulb is green, the board has few randomly selected cards. Just like the game does with the default Forced option.

After you have made changes to your selections, you must start the game with Game or Restart menu option. Before the changes take place. Unlike it is with board size setting, this setting is never cleared.

Card Sets
Card Set have the same system than All bulb-box system. When you select more than one set into your board, the values of the edit boxes are no longer percentages. The values are relative to your settings. When you put 100 to each selected Set, there will be as many cards from each setting. And when you put 80 each set, there will, once again, be as many cards from each setting. When you put one setting to 100 and another to 50, The 100 setting will have twice as many cards on the board, than the second setting.

The card counts on the right makes it rather easy to see how it goes. The rightmost column shows the total numbers of the cards in each set. The second column shows the number of cards which are selected to board.

When Forced setting is on and F is green, the randomizer selects recently added card from the sets. Just like does with overall Forced setting.

If you for example want to play with recently added Pets, you click F from the Pet row. After that randomizer searches recently added pets from Card base. The search uses the Shift Forced setting. When Shift Forced is non zero, the search scrolls backwards as many pet cards asked in the Shift Forced field. After that the randomizer start to select the cards. Shift Forced is general use setting, one setting affects to all forced sets and general Forced setting. When you go too far in the past, and randomizer runs out of available cards, it tries to take newer  pet cards into game before it switches to randomly selected cards.

Right from the tables there are icons from the currently selected cards. Above them there is an additional link for launching a new game. Function is the same as in the Menu bar in the game area. When you click the link, the currently played game vanishes. These things are also very handy when you make customized boards to yourself.

Columns from left to right :

Id Name Desciption
Play with this set. Shortcut with what you can adjust settings so ( with one click) so, that you play with this set only.
dsc Name Name of the card set gives you hint from the contents of the cards in the set..
Enable/ Disable Forced With this option you can play with recently added cards in the set. Shift all - setting is in force also in here.
Enable/Disable percent When enabled randomizer uses share - percentages on the right in card selections. Otherwise all sets are equally weighted, and the share is 100 for each selected set.
% Share With this numeric field you can you can create boards, which have more cards from one set, than from the others.
nbr Cards to Board This is the number of the cards per sets, which will be selected to the game.
nbr Cards In Set This column tells you how many cards there are in the set. There are cards which belong to multiple sets, the total number of the cards in this column is bigger than actual number of cards.

Special occasion Sets
Some cards for special occasions are never selected randomly to boards. It means that you have to select the card set for your board. You can use the randomizer settings for creating boards with restricted cards. Currently there aren't any exclusive cards in the game.

Halloween : All cards are common cards
Christmas : All cards are common cards
New Year  : All cards are common cards
Easter  : All cards are common cards

Example

You select Christmas only. You set the percentage to Christmas set to ten percent. When you do so, the randomizer takes one Christmas  Card to all boards which are played without Forced option. And with default board size.

Reload and To Game functions

When you click "To Game" link, option your current game and small icons are recreated and updated.

When you click Reload functions, the whole page is reloaded with the settings you have made here. All your settings are added to the link which leads to the game. After you Reload the game with this function, it is possible for you to add custom boards and settings to your favorites. Current card size and statistics are not saved with this function. The reload function has been built so, that the current board name and size comes to default name for the entry in your favorites. You can create default names and unique games for your favorites by creating custom games from your boards and card selections.

When you reload the boards to your browser, your settings do not vanish, when you refresh the page with browser option. The loading takes some time, and using "To Game" option for testing your settings is faster than reloading the game all the time. After you are satisfied with the way randomizer creates your boards, you reload the game to your browser and add the board into your favorites. Reload always scrolls the page to the top.

Board Size

Note, that changing board size resets statistics from the played games. After setting the board size, the changes takes place after you start new game with Reset / To Game / Reload menu option. Starting the game with some other option resets the pending board size to current size. When you have a pending board setting waiting for the next game, there is an asterix in the Game menu option.

Note : Depending on the browser and selected board size, it can take some time before the screen is updated to new size. The delay comes from screening routines, it is not visible to the underlying program. The game thinks, that the change is done in the blink of an eye. Although the changes are not yet visible on the screen.

Current Game : Currently active board. Click to the name re-selects the current board.
New Game : The name of new board.

To Game : Executes the Reset menu option from the lower top menu.
Align to top menu button aligns the page to the lower top menu.
Reload : Reloads the game with current settings and pending board size in the favorite string. The option updates the link with what you access the game. You can copy the link to the clipboard or add the reloaded page to your favorites.

Predefined boards

There are few predefined board sizes in the settings. Clicking them activates the new board size for the click to Reset / To Game / Reload. Besides the predefined sizes you can create custom boards. Custom boards are stored to the Favorite entry, you create with Reload function.

Custom boards

Text box : Name of your custom board setting.
Rows box : Number of rows in the custom board.
Cols box : Number of columns in the custom board.

Cards : Shows the numbers of cards in the current custom setting.
Slots : Number of click-able cards and covers in in the current custom setting.

Set board : Accept the custom board and select it to be the next new board. After this you must restart the game with Reset / To Game / Reload function before the changes take place.

Note : Depending on the browser and selected board size, it can take some time before the screen is updated to new size. The delay comes from screening routines, it is not visible to the underlying program. The game thinks, that the change is done in the blink of an eye. Although the changes are not yet visible on the screen.

Card Size

Card size setting takes place immediately. You can change card sizes anytime you want. The setting has no effect to actual game you are playing. With size settings you can adjust the card size so, that the card size suits to your display ( and display resolution ) and the board you playing. If you enlarge the pictures too much, the quality of the pictures gets poor. The game has been designed for standard display size - screen resolution combination. When you use dense resolution, you can neutralize and normalize the on-screen board with larger card sizes.

The range for the card sizes starts from 32 x 32 pixels and ends to 512 pixels.

There are few predefined card sizes in the settings. Clicking them resizes the cards immediately. Besides these pre-defined settings you create your own custom card size. The custom card size does not any limits for the card sizes. The custom size is stored to the favorite entry, you create with Reload function.

Custom card size

Text box : Name of your custom size setting.
Size box : Custom size for the cards.
Set size : Changes the actual card sizes to the customized size.

Sync Size

When Sync Size is selected the game resizes cards automatically when chance or reload the board with Game-menu option. Sync size uses current screen size for it's calculations. If you change the screen size when playing the game, you can run the sync function with the hyperlink, which is embedded in to Size-text. The size text in the Card Set Section on the left.

Changing the Sync Size setting in here, runs the function only then, when you start a new game. You can use on screen buttons to resize the cards "on-fly".

Remember Me - Help

Remember Me is old popular game, mostly for younger people.  This game is a single play version from game. Originally game's picture base had 76 different pictures from animals and plants. Nowadays there are lots of cards and options.

The game is made for fun. You can try , if you want to, to resolve the board and find all the pairs, with as little moves and as quickly as possible.

The game is here as replacement for the old solitaire, where empty decks had pictures from animals.

The game is also very good practice for the people, who have difficulties with their memory. For example politics. They make awful lot of all kinds of promises before the elections. And after the elections they forget almost everything they have promised.

New in version 2.7

- Standard card picture size was increased from 96 to 192 pixels. The old cards can be used alongside with new bigger cards.
- Forced option, with what you play with recently added cards, was extended to sets. For now on you can check and play with the latest pets, models, clowns, cars, etc.
- Randomizer was tuned for greater accuracy. The predictions you see in the setup are almost the same than you get to your boards.

- Let's say you play with standard 16 card  table. You click birds and animals to your board, and disable forced setting. The setup shows you 8 birds and 8 animals. In the past you never knew how many animal cards you get to the table. For now on the board has 8 birds and 8 randomly selected animals in it. It is possible that Randomizer takes more than 8 birds to the board. These additional birds come from the randomly selected, general animal setting.

Playing the game

When you come to the page, you can start new game immediately.

In the game your mission is to find a pair for the pictures you open. First you open one card from the table. Then you either try to remember the place, where pair for the picture is. Or then you try to guess, where pair for the picture is. Game ends after you find pairs for all pictures on the board.

Playing the game is very easy. First you open one card from the board with mouse. Then you check what kind of picture is hiding under the card. After that, you try to remember or guess where the another picture is hiding. Then you click the second card with mouse. The 2nd click opens another picture and leaves the first visible.

If the 2nd card has the same picture, than the picture under the first card, the pictures are left visible. If you didn't find the pair, the both cards are programmatically closed, when you continue your search. After you have opened 2 cards, you continue the search, until you have paired all the pictures on the board.

The search continues with mouse click. It is not forbidden to use the opened card / visible picture in the next attempt. If you click the card / picture which was already open, it is considered as a re-opening of the opened card. If you had a hunch where the pair was ( you have opened it before ), but you failed to find it with the first attempt, you can continue the search with re-opening.

The small info text at the bottom of the board tells you, what you do next.

Viewing texts of the cards

You can read names and texts from paired cards. Just click the card, and texts come to screen. If the game is not yet finished, texts vanish when you open a new card. Some cards have more than one text field. When you click such card the arrows on the right are enabled. The number of available texts is shown to you over the scroll arrows.

Statistics and player name

There are two statistics for your game. Another one for 10 best moves, and another for 10 the best times. You select the statistic with the column header from the stat section. You see the selected stat from the leftmost column header.

The name for the stats comes from the player field. You can change name, if you want to. Maximum name length is 15 characters. The name is recorded to stats at the same time you open the last pair from the board.

Due to the tight privacy policy, there aren't any stats from the games you have played earlier. All stats are cleared after you leave the page.

Audio options - Upper top menu

Audio settings Disable / Enable sound effects

In the top right corner there are speakers, with what you enable and disable sound effects for the game.

With the left speaker you enable or disable sounds, which are played when you turn cards.

Besides the sound effects the game has audio tracks. Remember Me theme is played to you, when you come or reload the page. Boys play also small fanfares for the winners. After you have played the game four times you can listen the set of songs, Boys' played for you as reward. These sound tracks are disabled and enabled with the rightmost speaker.  Before you can hear fanfares and rewards songs, your browser must support Windows Media Player. The player is always stopped, when you open a card in the game. You can for example view texts of the cards without putting an end to the fanfares. After you get the reward songs to the media player, you can listen the songs without breaks.

With the Pause-Start you control the timer of the currently running game. If an accident is threatening you, and your legs are crossed. In the middle of the game, and you have to go to toilet, you can pause the timer manually. After your need for a pee is fulfilled, you do not have to start the timer manually. The timer always starts from the next turned card.

When you leave the screen, and activate another screen, the timer does not stop automatically. There is rather serious bug in the primary browser ( Ms Internet Explorer for Windows XP ), which prevents the automated pauses of the games.

When you click the option, when the game is not active, nothing happens.

New cards in the game and on the board

Every now and then game gets new cards. When you come to the page, the latest additions to the card base are always added to the board. As many from the recently added cards, as there is reserved room for them. After you finish the first game, new cards are no longer forced to be in the board. If you want to, you can re-activate the new cards setting manually. From the left side bar. Sometimes the secondary and special new cards are dropped away from the card you get to your board with Forced option.

- When the latest additions to the game are certain be in the board, the Free/Forced entry the left side bar is bigger than 0.
- When the latest additions are not certain to be in the current board,  Free/Forced entry the left side bar is 0.

During the game play the color and text of the text-link tells, whether the new cards are forced to be in the next board, or not. When the text is "Free" and dimmed, the new cards not forced to be in the game. When the text is green and "Forced", new cards are included to the next board.

Pic-Mode and Pic Size

Games can use standard ( 96x96 ) pictures, big ( 192 x 192 ) and large pictures. These are the sizes of the actual pictures, from which the pictures on the screen are either enlarged, shrinked or displayed with the size they were drawn.

Large picture sizes vary from 256 to 388 pixels. Large picture set is an additional picture set. It used when then the main object in the card is either long or tall. Quite often large pictures are made so, that shorter side shows the actual object with at least 192 pixels. The large pictures needs big source files, the load times are rather long. When the new 96x96 cards are packed to 5 - 6 kB size, the big and large pictures are packed with standard packing. The sizes of big pictures vary from to 15 - 25 kB. Large pictures are 20 to 100 kB.

After the 96x96 pixel graphics were dropped away from the new cards, we got many complaints about the slow load times. The new standard 96x96 cards are made differently from the past. They are made without compromises, they do not look good, when they are enlarged. On the other hand, the small pictures looks better with big boards and small cards.

With Pic-Mode you control this feature in the graphics engine. With the default Auto-mode the game engine selects big cards, when card size on the screen exceeds 96. When card size on the screen is 96 or less, the engine uses 96 x 96 pixel cards as sources for the displayed pictures.

There are many cards, which have only one picture file per card. With these cards, engine uses the only available picture, ignoring the setting. All cards are available with all settings, but when there is only picture for the card, the quality of the picture remains the same.

The game engine detects the setting, and selects the picture, when you turn the card. When setting is changed during the game, or when there is a fully played game on the board, clicking a paired card will not change the picture.

The source picture size is checked when you turn cards.  Changing the setting during the game changes the used source right away. These cards are not cached, so when you change the setting during the game, it can take quite a long time, before you get the graphics to the screen.

Pic-Mode is stored to the favorite strings.

- Auto - Game engine selects pictures by the card sizes on the screen. [ default ]
- Std - Game engine tries to use smaller, standard 96 x 96 pictures.
- Big - Game engine tries to use 192 x 192 pictures.
- Large - Game engine tries to use 320 x 320 pictures.

You can set the source picture from game settings and left side bar. Side-bar has the old scrolling link, and direct shortcuts to all source picture sizes.

Card resizer buttons

You can change the sizes of the cards with resize buttons in the left sidebar. The changes card size takes place immediately. It does not have any affect the game play. The current card height is shown to you over the buttons. When you load the game page, auto resize function is automatically executed for you.

Reduce the card height with 16 pixels.
Reduce the height with 4 pixels.
Automatically resize cards so, that they usually cover the maximum are from the screen.
Reset card size to 96 x 96 pixels.
Increase the height with 4 pixels.
Increase the card height with 16 pixels.

Text area viewer at the bottom of board

Most of cards have texts. Some cards have more than one text entry. You can scroll the entries with arrow on the right. The scroller overlaps in the ends. When you scroll forward from the last entry, the first text is shown to you.

Align to top menu button aligns the page to the lower top menu.
-     from the second row you see the numbers of text entries for the card.
When arrow is green you scroll to the previous text entry.
When arrow is green you scroll to the next text entry.

Window Media player unit

The reward songs and sounds are played to you with an embedded Windows Media player. Media Player system is built so, that you can listen the rewards with most of the Mozilla and Opera browser versions. Although the game's audio settings do not work perfectly.

Statistics and player name

There are currently two statistics for the game.

The stats are cleared also then, when you change the board.

Notes

When you open the game for first time or first time for quite a long time. It might take some time before the game is available for use. Before the game is opened for you, the graphics are programmatically cached - graphics are downloaded from server to your computer, if you haven't played the game for a while, the caching can take some time.

Graphics for the game are not new. The eldest graphics is taken ( and upgraded to 24 bit graphics ) from Christmas Calendar program for the year 1997.

There has been plans to create a simple, general use R&D text file I-O system. So that you can save the data from the site onto your own computers hard disk. for text files. For some strange reason simple harmless text files are protected so, that it is not very easy to use simple text files with Java script and web applications. Still under consideration. On the other hand, extremely dangerous, native Java files can be written, read and executed from your computer just like that. And on most web sites, you are naturally forced to allow the usage of the dangerous Java Applets.
