Internet versions from Boys albums are available for Windows and Windows media player only.
Unfortunately DHTML standard misses the support for sounds and videos. There is a simple background sound object in DHTML definitions. But web browsers do not follow the standard very well.
Windows Media Player plays music on web pages without 3rd party plug ins.
When you put music ( or videos ) to web page, the sound files must be linked to the sound card in the visitors computer. Videos need links also to display driver / graphic card.
DHTML misses the proper cross platform linking methods. With BACKGROUND sound object you can play one sound file as whole. After the browser has uploaded the whole file. With IMG object you can play videos with same limitations. It does not matter what kind of Operating System, Script or Creation method you use when you create DHTML for web-browsers. Browsers know the BACKGROUND and IMG tags / objects only. They could be used with small changes. All you needed was an attribute for buffering, property for position, events for playback / timer and start-stop-pause methods. And everyone would've been happy with the DHTML definitions.
There aren't any general use cross platform spy-free libraries for receivers / visitors either. Libraries with what you could embed sounds and videos to the web site. Without worry about using a program which was made in close co-operation with CIA and US Homeland Securities. RD uses Bass libraries for playing music, Bass is cross platform open source library for computer programs. Bass do not currently have wrappers for using the library in Web browsers and Html pages. But maybe some day.
DHTML-5
An 8 year old DHTML 5 would have audio and video, but it misses framesets and fonts. Two key elements in DHTML-4 pages. There aren't any browsers, which would support the standard.
In general the change s not big issue for R&D. R&D uses programmed pages. Due to the lack of few primary elements, the switch is very costly to companies and operators which uses CGI, PHP, ASP and PERL in page creation. Making the changes to the hard coded computer programs and scripts needs lots of time and money. Talking about billions in here.
