A romantic story about young lone-mother.

Novalee Nation is a pregnant young woman. Not by an accident, but with a scoundrel like young man Willy. Novalee is superstitious person, number 5 is very difficult number for Novalee. Number 5 means accident for her. 

Novalee and Willy  leaves Novelee's home, in the search of a new better life for the baby.

On the way Willy gets bored with Novalee. He leaves her while she is shopping at Wal Mart. Novalee is left alone into a strange town. She has no place to go, so she starts to live at Wal Mart's.

Spends her days in the park and nights in Wal Mart. 

When time to deliver the baby comes, local library keeper sees, what is going on in Wal Mart. He breaks the window, jumps in, and helps Novalee with the delivery. And delivers her to hospital for aftercare.

In the hospital Novalee makes friends with one nurse, Lexie. After the hospital Novalee and her baby starts to live with the old local couple. Sister Husband is merciful religious woman, and so is her husband. 

Novalee visits Forney, the library keeper who helped her with the delivery. They become friends. Forney seems to like Novalee's daughter, Americus. Tensions between Novalee and Forney raises all the time :  friendship might develop into a relationship, and who knows where.

Novalee's friend, Lexie is also a lone mother. She has many children and relationships behind. One of her relationships with a promising suitor ends very sadly. The suitor abuses Lexie and her children ruthlessly. Lexie has better luck with the next suitor, and it seems that the sun finally starts to shine to Lexie.

Quite soon after Wille left Novalee to Wal-Mart, he is thrown into jail. For having a sexual relationship with a 14 year old teenager. After getting out of the jail, Willie starts to make a career as singer.

Excellent choice for the friends of the romantic movies. Not going to be disappointed. Lots of romantic action, complicated relationships, and so on. All required elements are included.
