Checking movie disks. Creating programs for making check outs easy and fast.

One intended program disk checker. Disk checker reads data from all files on the disk. Then it keeps traditional virus checker base from the files. It read the files as one,  two or four byte signed integers. Then it multiplies the number into 8 byte integer without overflow checking. Unlike checksum, multiplied number is "always" unique to known file size content system. Chances to have two different content with same result are near non-existing. If the number changes, the file must have changed. When you keep separate checksum you don't need or need to match two files. When you compare contents of older back up disks to actively used disks, there are almost always few files, which are no longer a match to current file. Files, which were checked matches, when back copy was made. Changes are typically invisible, but existing. Have checked the changed files with more than one routine.

Currently working with GUI version from Dos Dir command. This long term project is near the end now.  By default GUI version outputs the list to grid or list box. You can later save the list into Dir-list like file. Win Dir command has much more options than Dos-Dir command. Previous attempt ended to impossibility to create a screen, from where you launch Win-Dir command. The command has so many options, that you need whole screen for building common search-screen for the command. New version allows you to launch command from mixed screens. You can set attributes for search programmatically. Then you have parameter line, where you can set attributes literally, as Dos styled back-slashed parameter strings. Before execution command function parses attributes from all supplied parameter systems.

In movies and music you got be capable of searching directories and sub directories with wildcards and dates. You need at least nine date selection box systems. Then you need separate include-exclude options for directories, sub directories and files. The list of required screen fields and field areas is almost endless.

Win-Dir command provides a replacement for MS made messy pointer based Shell system. Command allows you to simulate Windows Shell system. Managed ... once again ... to mess one back up disk, with badly and sadly delayed shell interface. All you have to do for a major mess, is to after over 5 minute wait, mistakenly think, that Ms Windows is not going to process given Move or Copy command .. something went wrong. After you repeat the earlier command, file system converts into a total mess. Shell pointers loses connection to physical files.

Possible. But I am not responsible for that. Licenses are available just like before. DPS licenses have been available for almost 10 years with reasonable prices. No one has shown enough interest yet.

Planned to install programs to Junk pad and Windows 8. Window 8 messed hard disk, from where the installation files are located and read. Earlier the same team spread bad clusters into one test disk. Windows 8 and 10 allows you to enable wired and wireless network cards programmatically. Junk Pad has electric wireless switch, which is disguised as mechanic on-off switch. The system makes it possible to open wireless connection remotely without user's consent, and without user's own wireless system. All holy alliance of shit ... MS, CIA, .Web Jerks, US Moles, etc.  ...  need, is an installed wireless module in the "host" computer / computer network.

Against common belief, it is possible to boil things in microwave oven.
Boiling needs, that you warm the food with additional water, milk or some other liquid. Works with at least oat flakes. In microwave and 750W power, porridge gets ready in two minutes. 
Boiling softens food with some liquid. It adds water into hard potatoes and others. 
Macaroni portion  for one person  needs around 4 minutes with 500W power. Macaroni needs lots of water. Just like in common kettle-stove boiling, vapor foams tend to come out from cauldron. You got to use more time and smaller wave power for avoiding it. In stove production of same portion takes 15 to 20 minutes. You got to warm water to 100C, before you can pour macaronis in.

Donuts, French Fries and other grease-oil works need closed heat and fire resistant pyrex-glass cauldrons.

If your claims are true, you must have done something special.
No. Tried to copy 800 000 files and 850 GB data from 2nd Win 8 hard disk to ZyXEL net drive. Both drives were 1 TB drives. Recently checked to be okay. Have done similar kind of massive copies at least 100 times. Never before have they failed like this. Later Windows XP made the copy, from "fixed" source to same target without a problem.

First copy stopped few times into message, which said that "Cannot copy files. Copied file contains virus". When I checked source disk, it had already around 30 lost directories. Traditional copy from one disk to another can never touch or alter source files / directories. Sources are opened in read mode.

Why one kB or kiloByte is 1024 bytes ?
It goes even with two base numbering system. It is the closest match to 1 000 bytes. Previous even value is 512 bytes, next is 2048.

Why do you use HEX or 16 base numbers in IT world ?
With 16 base numbering system, you can present one byte with two characters. FF is 255, which is the maximum number for one 8 bit byte. In traditional terminal oriented networking you send and receive characters. In terminal based networking, you write all commands and data requests and others with common keyboard. You never send bit-based numbers. When you use hex encoding one byte needs 2 characters. With literal 0 to 9 numbers, each byte needs three characters.

Computers have also 7 bit bytes. 7 bit byte was superseded by 8 bit byte long time ago.8 bit byte fits better into computers native 2 based numbering system.  Space calculations for 8 bit byte are easier and faster than for 7 bit byte. 8 bit byte has always a match in binary system. 7 bit system needs that you leave blank spaces to memories, hard disks and others. End of 7 bit data-string must be aligned to native binary system. Without alignments you end into ambiguous and slow system.

There are still some old packed file formats, which uses 7 bit bytes. GIF file comments for example are stored with 7bit bytes. Programming languages misses support for 7 bit bytes.

Microwave oven works with nuclear radiation.
So it does. If you put geiger sensor into running microwave, you should get severe nuclear pollution / radiation alert.
Microwave operates with invisible x-Ray light beams. Light wave sets few demands for microwave's usage. Cauldrons, where you warm or boil food must be open or transparent.

Microwave is much more sensitive to the size of warmed food portion than stove. Faster warming makes microwave more sensitive to the time-size system you need for warming the food.
In common stove boiling time show best in potatoes. Big potatoes need around 5 minutes more time than small potatoes. When boiling a mixture of small and big potatoes, you should chop big potatoes to the same size with smaller potatoes. Otherwise your cooking is in danger to produce mixed results. Big potatoes are hard as rocks, small are fragile like sand.

Yes. Packages, which travels in web, need unique address for delivery. Broadband is special one-tiered wire for accessing web. Direct connection has two or more wires. In direct connection your computer acts as part of web itself. Your computer forwards and delivers other users data.

In the picture there is first shots from FilesToStringsSx command GUI. In the top there is the earlier DOS command line system, with what the underlying list was created. First backslash is nf, it drops files from the list. Second is S, es includes subdirectories into iteration. Third parameter is ED. First character can be I or E, it either includes or excludes entries.  Second character can be D,S or F. D is in effect, when function decides, whether or not to add directory entry into list. S is used for harvesting, when command plans to iterate sub directories. F does the same to files, than D does to directory entries.

As you can see from the list, you can add volumes into same listing. Ripped Once Upon a Time discs with two computers. Another file set went to H volume and another to F volume. Command has batch job interface. First the command iterates FAT entries from the disk. After iteration, screen is released, command start to iterate totals for listed directories as back ground job. It calculates counts and sizes for root and whole underlying tree. Batch system brings results to program after each directory.

Command has special scrapper filter option. Checked scrapper checks results and drops entries, which are not DVD or BD root directories.

At the bottom of the you can see three lines from GUI modules source code.

Screenshot from GUIs new in-place editor. Never seen it before. Editor is actually an in-place form. This version from the editor includes literal caption, move and copy buttons. Editor stretches itself automatically to the length of edited text. The same editor-copy works on all list-boxes and grids. If you failed to notice what is wrong with the picture, Windows has maximized screen to smaller than screen size. Windows XP3 assigned 1225 x 471 pixels for 1600x900 screen. Also a thing, I have never seen before.

If you have for example memo fields in your base, this editor allows you to provide common multi line editor for altering the contents.

Is that new in-place system difficult ?
No. It depends. Made it with old R&D logics for combo boxes, from mid 1990s. It is simpler than for example in-place editor in Delphi grids. Have a hunch that nowadays all combo boxes uses R&D logics or a-likes. Haven't seen old fashioned combos, which are occasionally left open after usage, for ages. In simple logic, you close the inquiry window right after user has made the selection or decided to escape the inquiry. Simple logic closes the inquiry, when user resizes or moves the underlying window. Such is considered to be an escape from inquiry.

What are you doing ?
Having a break from media player programming. Just watched Tarzan Escapes. BW movie from year 1936. During the time all movies had sounds, but movies with lower budget were still shot in black-and-white. Numerous shots from nature and animals suffers quite a lot from colorless footage.

Although Tarzan eats meat, he is a great animal lover and activist. You can hurt and shoot black  ... and also white ... matter as much as you wish ... but help me god, if you capture or kill animals in my kingdom.

Tarzan books and movies can be a reason, why Africa has still very rich flora and fauna. Books and old movies are kind of classics. So far almost all generations have discovered and familiarized themselves with Tarzan stories and old Johnny Weismuller movies.

Happy with new in-place editor ?
Yes. Tech is not new, have been happy with it few years already. Wrote the logics few years ago for DB programs. When you enter name panel, tech replaces displayed literal customer name with customer number, group and other fields. When you leave customer maintenance panel, the simple literal name comes back to screen. System almost halves the space, you need for number-name maintenance systems. Then you can add simple customer addition-maintenance systems to billing form or program.

In media player grids, in-place editor will get for example Windows date-pickers for selected columns. Some columns will open common combo boxes, and so on. New system doesn't need embedded controls, with typically more or less limited and altered capabilities. Editor inherited DB system's capability to have more than one control open at the time.

This base can have multiple entries for one field. Then it can have multiple fields with same name and definition. Needed multiple fields for storing multiple descriptions and reviews for one movie. In text file and Delphi TStrings, you cannot have multiple memo fields in one storage space.

In the screen shots you see the text file system screen for mainstream movies. Primary screen is in the center. System has new simple docking system. Hardcoded function converts earlier IMDb movie introductions into base with three clicks and few seconds. After getting the basics, you can add your own entries and notes to movie introduction.

On the right there is prototype for scripted conversions. There are few standard commands, with what you can extract data directly from web-page or some other undefined external source. With earlier Web-hub, it is possible to integrate self-made Java and VBA scripts into programs. And run them with Internet explorers scripting engines. Common script must be launched separately from screen or menu. They are never integrated into actual programs.
