Closer is a story about relationship mess between two women and two men.

Alice is stripper, Dan is a writer, Anna is a photographer, and Larry is a doctor.

Dan meets Alice by an accident. Alice is hit by car. Dan witnesses the event, and takes Alice to hospital. The aftercare develops to a relationship, and Alice moves to Dan's apartment.

Dan writes a book about Alice's life. The publisher sends Dan to promotional photo session. The photographer is Anna. Anna has divorced from her husband, and she lives alone. Dan makes few propositions to her.

The flirting ends after Alice comes to studio. Anna takes photo set from her.

Dan decides to make a dirty joke to Anna. He arranges a date for Anna through web.

Larry is an unmarried doctor. He has a habit of picking women through web-services. 

Larry and Dan have an intimate chat session. Dan cheats Larry to think, that he is chatting with a hot woman, Anna. The chat results to the meeting between Anna and Larry.

Although the date was a joke, it leads to a relationship between Anna and Larry.

Anna and Larry gets married. Quite soon Anna starts to betray Larry with Dan. After Alice and Dan break up, Dan wants Anna to divorce Larry. Anna is reluctant until Larry confesses, that he was unfaithful. 

Anna divorces him. But Larry does not give up. He drives Dan to extreme jealousy with his talks about having sex with both Anna and Alice. Dan cannot stand the pressure, and the relationship between Anna and Dan is over very quickly.

Good choice for the people who are interested in relationships, love affairs, and things like that. Story is a bit more serious than common romantic comedies. Some change for a change.
