Darling, why actresses  always say in interviews, that playing nude  and sexual scenes is awkward ?

? If you acquire an official education for acting, some schools have classes from nude acting. They train you for nude acting and nude love scenes. Depends on school and country. People, who gives you the lessons, are usually old directors and actors.

Best selling movies

If I spent 7 years with a movie production, planning plots and visualizations, I would be quite upset, if few revealing love scenes would be the primary things in my movie, The only things, which are mentioned and brought to publicity from my art work.

Generally speaking. Minority of the movie goers and people in general are interested in on-screen nudity. All best selling movies are made without nudity, with low MPAA - ratings and age restrictions.

When movies are evaluated by professionals, nudity usually lowers the value of the movie. Nudity is considered to be a cheap trick, with what the movie maker tries to get audiences for the movie. At certain point nudity, itself, drops the movie to the B-class.*

Nude Stunts

Nude stunts ( aka Body Doubles ) were quite often used with revealing sex scenes. Not as well known as action stunts. 

When they came to the movies they were in talks and public, but afterwards they were pushed out of talks. Web is full of all kinds of native fake nude pictures from celebrities. Pictures which were captured from the movies.

Nude stunts came to the movies at the same time non-adult movies started to show intimate body parts. Nude stunts are credited at the same section than the other stunts. Sometimes they have their own line, with a Body Double, etc. Actresses and actors do not usually reveal, when stunts are used or not.

Besides women, there are male stunts.

Native nude clips from big Hollywood stars are quite expensive. Doubles the fee the actresses and actors want from their work. Accounting department and producers put an end to the hopes of big dreamer quite quickly.

Playboy for example paid $5 - $10 millions to celebrities, when they take their clothes off, and do nude pictures to them. Fees for the ordinary women and men are calculated in thousands. Same system goes with movies and nude stunts.

Nudity and Grosses

In general women do not like watch nude scenes. When the movie is targeted to adults, quite a many goes to movies with their companions. Usually decisions about the movie are done together, if the movie is known to have lots of nudity, and revealing scenes, women quite often drop the movie from the list of nominees.

Women likes to talk about sex, but they don't want to see it. Men on the other hand prefer watching from talking.

When movie has lots of revealing scenes, at least 30% from potential audiences is dropped away. Because of the revealing and nude scenes.

Essential Nudity

Nude stunts ( Body Doubles ) are usually used, when nudity is essential for story. In general it is quite rare, that an actress or actor loses the role, if she / he refuses to play nude scenes.

Casting is usually done by the acting skills, not by shape of the body and willingness to show it.

When a suitable actress / actor is found, most of the movie makers are willing to make compromises with nude clips. Besides stunts, it is possible to change shooting angles, so that the most intimate body parts are kept hidden from bigger audiences.

When nudity is essential for the story, it doesn't matter who plays the scene. And how it is done. 

Nowadays it is even possible to replace the face of the body afterwards. The tech was initially introduced in the Sci-Fi movie Running Man in the 80's. It was used for the first time in the later Star Wars trilogy.

Old blue screen tech can also been used in combining head and body of two people. You'll never know from 2 second clip.

People, also actresses and actors, takes the nudity very differently. Someone feels very uncomfortable with nudity, and someone don't. Most of the movie makers understand this, and do not set overwhelming demands to actresses and actors.

If an actress or actor do not feel comfortable with nude scenes, the quality of footage is usually quite poor. Shooting of the clip takes long time and many re-takes. And the actress/actor gets more and more nervous with playing in the nude.

The key issue in awkward nudity shootings is usually in communications. Actresses and actors do not dare to speak about the way they feel about the nudity. Especially younger actresses and actors are quite often afraid to lose their roles, if they set demands to the work they do.

Shooting Nude Scenes

Usually studios are almost empty, when nude scenes are shot. People tend to get nervous, and the nervousness starts to spread quite easily. Director, camera man and assistant are usually the only ones, who are present.

Most of the movie makers use blankets while shooting nude scenes. They are taken off right before the take begins, and thrown to the actors right after the take is over.

Almost all nude scenes are shot in studio.

Unused footage is usually destroyed almost right after the scene is edited and ready.

Visual Effect It is quite often said, that you should always leave something for imagination. Same goes with nudity in movies. According to studies quite a many men prefer picture like young attractive women from their own spouses . . .  excuse me . . . completely naked women people . . . Of course. That's the way it goes.  Yes. And now. Back to the business. With the picture like clothing , it is quite often easy to avoid nudity in the movie. When possible, it is a good way to compromise demands from actor's and story side. Adult Movies By the time adult movies were played in theaters, they were quite far from the best selling movies. They had plots and big settings and everything. They were filled with the sex scenes, and everything was shown to the patrons. Theater distribution of the adult movies ended when VCR and VHS tapes came.

According to retailers, picture like sexy underwear are not very rare. All kinds of people buy and use them.

Revealing Music Videos

When record sales start to fall, in the millennium, almost all leading female artists made "without clothes" performances in their PR-videos. Effect to the main issue, record sales, was marginal or negative.
