2 : Guardian Ghosts

- - Monday Morning In Iron City - -

The sun starts to shine in Iron City. Special guests gather to the breakfast in Moon Base. Outdoors people are walking to Iron City's construction yard 2. Yard 2 is on the other side of the main street than the finished block. Part of the workers go in to the buildings in the first block.

Chin's rescue team comes to the breakfast first. Quite soon after them the clowns and dance groups come to the dining room. On the wall big screen says, that the next flight to Space City departures after 30 minutes. Quite soon a steady flow of people start to come out from the finished buildings. They walk to Moon Base airport. They were in Iron City, celebrating the opening. They slept over night in the new houses, and now they are returning to Space City, and their works in there.

Ann watches out from the window. "Much like on Earth" she says after she sees people coming out from the houses.
"Slowly returning to everyday life." Jacques comments.

"Look. They are bringing animals to here. Where do they take them ?" Ann asks.
"They go to Moon Park. It is half a kilometer from here." Jacques, who patrols Iron City, knows.
"Must go to work now." Ann looks at the clock. She raises, and goes to Jacques.
She kisses him and says "Have a good day darling."
"You too, dear Ann" Jacques says before Ann leaves the dining room. After Ann vanishes to Moon Mine office building, Jacques raises and go out. He decides to go to Moon Park. To see if his help is needed with wild animals.

On his way Jacques stops to chat with construction workers. They just got the first floor for the houses ready.
"Hello. What's the hurry ?" Jacques asks, after he sees how people start to work with second floor.
"Nothing. We get one house ready per day. One floor per hour." a worker answers.
"And then it is ready." Jacques says.
"No. Electricians and pipe work people come after us. After they are finished, the decorators finalize the apartments with furniture and cauldrons." another worker explains.

"Anything special here. Thieves or scoundrels ?" Jacques asks.

"In here . . . no one steals or makes troubles." third worker answers.
"Probably changes at some point." Jacques answers.
"Hopefully not." one worker from the group answers.

"That's what we all hope . . . I do not hold you anymore. Going to Moon Park to see how they are doing with wild animals. Some of them seemed to be quite angry." Jacques says.
"Bye bye. And have a good day." group farewells Jacques.
"Good day to you too." Jacques says and continues his journey to Moon Park. In the following blocks there are landscapers making basements to the buildings. Jacques stops to have a chat workers.

"Morning." Jacques greets the roadside workers.
"Morning." roadside group responds.

"What are you doing ?" Jacques asks.
"First we dig holes for the basements. Then we isolate the city from the ground. " one group member answers.
"Why do you isolate them ?" Jacques asks.
"Must keep the carbon inside the city constructions. Cannot waste it." another group member answers.

The team leader comes to group.
"This side is ready, let's go to there." leader points a small hill in the center of the hole. 
"We must go now. Bye, it was nice to see you, constable." second group member says to Jacques.
"Have a good day." Jacques says before he continues his trip to Moon Park.

- - Rescue Base's Garage - -

Louis and Charles enter the garage. 
"Could test and warm the engines." Louis says to Charles.
"Wonder if Pinky starts." Charles says.
"We'll see it soon." Louis says.

"How did it actually go ?" Charles asks whilst men are walking to planes.
"The defense system detonated the missile, but it was too close to Pinky." Louis answers.
"Must have been awful." Charles says.
"Yes it was quite an experience. Remember well, when the right wing top fell. Crew cried and shouted like they were going to hell. Pinky fell into almost vertical flying position." Louis memorizes.

"How did you get it going ?" Charles asks.
"With various methods and tricks. Bit difficult to remember afterwards. All the time so busy with corrections and in search for something which would keep Pinky in the air . . . Went quite fine until we lost the engine power . . . After that the situation looked quite serious . . . Almost certain, that we will not make it anymore . . . Pinky dropped almost a minute like a rock." Louis answers.
"You lost all power ?" Charles asks.
"Everything went down at one point. Found few non-leaking fuel cells from the left wing. We isolated them, and connected them directly to fuel pipes. Got the engines running again." Louis answers.

"You connected them directly to pipes . . . where do you do that ?" Charles asks.
"It was in emergency panels. All panels and gauges changed after the hit. All normal security locks vanished, and you could do what you can. And with what was left from the Pinky. The panels were full of options and adjustments I had never seen before." Louis explains.

The men separate in front of their Sonics.. Louis goes to his Pinky. Charles to Monster. Two mechanics are watching the sonics. Younger stands beside the transparent wall, the elder behind the wall.

Louis tries to start Pinky's engines. Pinky's engines pushes black smoke from the outlet tubes. Smell of lubrication oil fills the garage. After Pinky has burned the oil away, engines start. One by one. Louis scrolls to the outlet airlock. The airlock door opens and closes for Pinky.

After Louis has gone, Charles starts Monster's engines. Small flames comes out from the outlet tubes. Monster is rolling in the midway to the air lock, when a massive explosion stops it. Monster spreads small metal pieces to all over the garage. Monster is covered with flames and smoke.

"What happened, sabotage ?" younger mechanic asks.
"One engine blew up and exploded. Ever seen and heard it before." elder mechanic comments.
"Didn't see very much from it this time either." younger mechanic comments.

Fire squad drives to Monster, and tries to extinguish fires. After few minutes all fires are gone. Sad looking lonesome Monster lies on the strip.

The mechanics walk to the blown engine. Charles and other crew comes out from the Monster and joins the mechanics.
"The wing and body are okay." younger mechanic says.
"The blow ups are not very dangerous." elder mechanic answers.

"What were those small metal pieces." younger mechanic asks.
"Turbine wings. Nothing serious." Charles says.
"Nothing serious. One wing almost killed me." younger mechanic says.
"I have told you many times, that take cover when sonic leaves. You never know what happens." elder mechanic silences his apprentice.

"It was almost new engine. What happened ?" elder mechanic asks Charles.
"Don't know. What if you left your toolboxes in to it ?" Charles respond.

"Can't do that. Engine's service system checks the engines after the service is done. It alerts you if you leave something in to it . . . How did it behave during the last flight ?" elder mechanic answers and asks.
"Didn't notice anything special. Expect the excessive fuel consumption . . . Did you notice anything ?" Charles asks from his crew.

The crew is quiet. Finally radar-radio operator opens his mouth. "Think that I heard a whistling noise when we returned . . . Thought it comes from the radio, because of the radiation."

"Well. When do you get it going again ?" Charles asks from the mechanic.
"We have to check all engines. From Monster . . . and Pinky too. Must check the defensive system . . . We should be ready tomorrow afternoon." elder mechanic estimates. People in the back are towing Monster to the service area. 

"Okay. You know what to do." Charles says to mechanics, and continues to his crew "And you know what to do too. I have to call Jack." Charles says to them.
"No we don't." radio operator resits.
"What ?!" Charles exclaims.
"No. We don't know what do." co-pilot confirms the resistance.
"Had enough for today !" Charles shouts "Your job is build rooms and apartments to rescued people."
"Done with that. Boss." co-pilot explains.

Charles takes a deep breath. Walks around a while. After few minutes he is cool and comes back.
"Well. Lets go and see the station keeper." Charles says.
"Seems to be over there. Watching the wreck." co-pilot notices. Charles and his crew walks to keeper.

" Yes. The required apartments are ready, we have been working with them during the weekend. You could start to build green house or park area for us." station keeper says.
"Is it next in the plans ?" Charles asks.
"No. We had instructions for building rooms for 400 refugees. After that we can do what we want, and whenever we want. Just have to make sure, that everything will be done." station keeper says.

"Okay. We'll go there, and see what we can do." radar-radio operator answers.
"The greenhouse comes to storage area two. We started to build it yesterday. Required modules and tools are already there." station keeper answers. Radar operator and other crew members leave the garage.

The inner strip is clear. The airlock door opens. Louis and Pinky roll in. After Pinky stops, the station keeper walks to Pinky. He guides Louis and his crew to work, and leaves the garage with them.

Charles calls Jack and explains what happened. After the initial briefing is over, Charles goes quiet. His answers are simple yes-no answers.

Slowly, during the call, red color and sweat raises to Charles' skin.

"He is sure to not be the nicest man in the world. When something goes wrong. Cannot understand how he does it. He never curses or barks, he just makes you feel very uncomfortable." sweating Charles says to himself after the call is over. Charles wipes sweat from his forehead. After cooling down a little, Charles puts the phone to his pocket, and follows the others to the storage area.

- - Breakfast at Moon Base - -

Robyn, Jack and children are coming to breakfast. Jack ends the call from Charles. He watches the phone for awhile. Then he puts the phone back to his pocket.

"Damn." Jack says.
"What's now darling ?" Robyn asks.
"Monster lost one engine, exploded in the garage." Jack answers.
"Everyone okay ?" Robyn asks.
"Everyone except me." Jack answers.

"When do they get back to Earth ?" Robyn asks.
"Said, that that everything should be ready by tomorrow afternoon." Jack answers.

Gordon is coming from the kitchen counter with a coffee cup.
"Sir. May I speak with you." Gordon asks Jack.
"Yes, of course. What's on your mind ?" Jack answers to Gordon. "You could go to table, I'll come afterwards." Jack says to Robyn and kids. Robyn and kids start to search an empty table for themselves. Jack stands on the pathway with Gordon.

"Sire. Do we have enough oil for the rescue operation ?" Gordon asks.
"Actually we don't. We are using hydrogen as fuel. We have plenty of hydrogen in Moon." Jack answers.

Jack holds a small break.

"You will fly Thunderbird 4 with your brother ?" Jack asks confirmation from Gordon.
"Yes sir. Alan and me pilot Thunderbird 4. After it is ready to land on Earth." Gordon answers.

"Our hydrogen fuel is more powerful fuel than oil. So try be a bit careful with your Thunderbird . . . The engines are not designed to last more powerful hydrogen fuel . . . Just got a call from garage. Monster lost one engine in the morning. Almost new engine exploded in a big blast. Monster transferred to hydrogen fuel last week, on it's latest longer flight. . . . New fuel is the most likely reason to the exceptional blow up." Jack explains.

"Thank you sire." Gordon answers.
"You're welcome . . . Gordon . . . Anything else ?" Jack asks.
Gordon thinks a while. "No sir. Good day to you and your family, sire." Gordon says to Jack.
"Have a good day too." Jack farewells Gordon and walks to Robyn and children.

Jack sits to the table.
"Dad. We took breakfast for you ." eldest says to Jack
"Thank you. Toast, eggs, milk, flakes, meat. . . . mmm . . . looks good." Jack checks, what kids have taken for him.

"What was it ?" Robyn asks in between the bites.
"Boys are worried about the oil reserves." Jack answers.
"Very good thing to worry about, we do not have much oil here." Robyn says.
"Yes. Luckily we have hydrogen in here. Can use it as replacement for fuel." Jack answers.

"Jack how can days be so natural in here ?" Robyn asks.
"We are fooling people. Moon cones have special shade layers, which are activated so, that the days in here are almost the same than on Earth. It is so cold outdoors, that everything is artificial in here. The real life begins after we get to Venus."

Kids are watching from the window, how moon bus leaves to Orbital Station. A second bus comes to the same outlet tube. People start to go in to the bus.

"Small rush there." Jack says to kids.
"Dad, when we go home ?" eldest asks Jack.
"Quite soon, darling." Jack answers.
"You have to go with dad. I'll stay here for today." Robyn says.

Jack turns his head and looks Robyn "Darling. What for ?" he asks.
"I go to see facilities for fabrics and clothing." Robyn says.
"Okay." Jack answers. "Is everyone ready with breakfast ?" he continues.
"Dad. I want ice-cream." youngest says.
"So do I." Jack answers "What do you take, there seems to be strawberry, chocolate, toffee, banana and vanilla balls available." Jack watches through the transparent fridge door.
Youngest thinks a while. "One of each." she finally answers.
"Anyone else ?" Jack asks.
"I'll take cake, and orange lemonade." eldest says.
"I'll take cake, and milk shake." middle one says.
"Coffee and cake to me." Robyn finishes the order. Jack leaves to counter and picks the order to plate. Then he returns to table.

"Look zebras, antelopes and giraffes." eldest points to a row of cages. Others look out.
"They go to Moon Park, they are released there." Robyn says.
"African park." Jack says.
"Yes darling." Robyn answers.

"I want to go to Moon Park." middle one says.
"School is waiting, can't go there." Jack answers.
"Some other time darling." Robyn says.

A moon carrier flies over the cone. A big transparent plate is hanging from the carrier.
"What is that ?" youngest asks Jack.
"It is a part for the cone. They place cones over the Iron City, so that you do not have to use space suit here." Jack explains.
"What if a meteor comes ?" eldest asks.
"The gates to that part of the city are closed. And people are evacuated to another districts." Robyn answers.
"The cone is like bounce ball. When a meteor hits the cone, they usually bounds back to space." Jack finalizes the explanation.

The first moon bus comes to the strip. It drives to a separate outlet. Mr. Chin and his troops raise, and walk away from the dining room. After few minutes they walk in to the bus.

"Is everyone ready now ?" Robyn asks after the portions are eaten. No one answers.
"Let's go home then." Jack says and raises from the table. Robyn, Jack and children leave the almost empty dining room.

- - Moon Base's Reception Lobby - -

Robyn, Jack and children come to Moon Base lobby. 

"Dad, where is your sonic ?" eldest asks Jack.
"Monster and Pinky are on the mission, we cannot use them." Jack answers.

"The moon bus comes." Robyn says after she sees the bus landing on the strip.

"Goodbye, be nice to Ms. Poppers, your nanny." Robyn hugs and kisses children before they enter the moon bus.
"Have a good day darling." Robyn says and kisses Jack. "You too darling." Jack says after the goodbye kiss.

Jack, kids and nanny enters the moon bus. After they vanish to the outlet tube, Robyn goes to windows. She waves kids goodbye and walks to Moon Mine offices. The current headquarters for Moon Base. 

Robyn is at Moon Base office door. Her phone rings. 

"Hello darling." Robyn answers.
"Darling we have small problem in here. The youngest is shouting after you like fire alerter . . . I can check the facilities for you, if you come here." Jacks says.
"What if I talk with her in phone" Robyn says. 

Jack is quiet, then he turns to the phone towards the youngest.
"Mom. I want mom here. Mooom!" Robyn hears the screaming and shouting from the phone.

"She has been like that ever since you left us. We are all waiting for you here." Jack comments the screaming. 
"I'll come running." Robyn closes the phone and runs to Moon Base lobby.

- - Moon Bus - -

Robyn rushes into the moon bus. She takes the screaming girl to her arms.
"What's the matter darling" Robyn sways the youngest.
"Miss you mom." youngest cries.

Finally the youngest calms down. Robyn sits down to an empty seat. With the girl in her lap. Jack takes a seat beside Isaac. Isaac's wife and children sit in the neighboring seats.

"Well. Hello Isaac. Nice to see you all." Jack says and sits down.
"Hello Jack." Isaac says.

The men wait till bus raises to space.

"You lost Monster." Isaac refers the latest rescue news.
"Not entirely. We have few new engines here for Monster. Boys were tuning them before the storm came. Chin took the engines from here and takes them to Rescue Base." Jack says.

"What about you. Found carbon from anywhere ?" Jack asks.
"Solar storm is coming, west from Moon. Testing the collectors in the storm." Isaac answers.

- - Switch to Sight Ship- -

The bus enters the Orbital Station. Robyn, Jack and others come to the reception lobby.
"Wow. Very different from Sunday morning." Robyn glances around.

"Good morning. Your sight ship hasn't come yet. Cup of coffee ?" station keeper comes to see the group.
"Yes we would love to. Will you join us ?" Jack answers.

"What has happened here. This was like junk yard on Sunday morning." Chin's wife says to station keeper.
"We got furniture and equipment yesterday evening. After the opening was over. Men and women worked with them all night." station keeper answers.

A waitress comes to bring coffee, tea and juice for the kids. After serving the goods, she has short conversation with station keeper. Station keeper raises from the table.

"Would you excuse me, I have work to do." He says to the group. The keeper leaves the lobby with the waitress.

The group start to drink their coffee and eat their pastries.

"Robyn what were you supposed to do in Moon ?" Isaac's wife asks.
"Looking facilities for the fabrics and sewers." Robyn answers.
"The silica fabrics are like rubber." Isaac's wife says.
"Can't help it." Isaac says.
"We have some chemists in clothing industry. They are currently working with radiation suits and radiation proof bags." Robyn answers.

"Where is it ?" Isaac's wife asks.
"We need radiation proof bags and boxes for carrying stuff from the shelters." Robyn answers.

"The facility is in old mines. About 300 kilometers west from Moon Base. Decided to put it away from the sight." Jack says.

"When do you open it ?" Isaac asks.
"It's already open. Delivering all corpses from Space City to there." Jack answers.
"From senior city ?" Isaac's wife asks.
"Death ratio is quite high in there . . . The old people in there have done lots of work for the future. They are gathering together and live in communities. Founded a big kindergarten for the working people and their kids too. Helping and assisting people as much as they can." Jack says.

"How do I take children to there ?" Isaac's wife asks.
"The kindergarten is in the movie studio. There is also a new bigger school. For the kids who live in old cargo stations." Robyn answers.

"How big the cargo station apartments are ?" Chin's wife asks.
"There are doubles and triples. As big as in Iron City." Robyn answers.

The conversation dies for a moment.

"Dad. When do we get to Venus ?" Robyn's and Jack's eldest asks.
"Hopefully quite soon. Estimated, that it takes six months before Thunderbird 3 reaches Venus " Jack says.
"Did it go already ?" Isaac's son asks.
"No. They are currently preparing it for the flight." Jack answers.

"How fast it goes ?" Isaac's younger son asks.
"Boys got it going 200 000 kilometers per hour. Then they drove it to Earth's atmosphere." Jack answers.

"Earth's atmosphere ?" Robyn wonders.
"I asked them to drive there. After they got it going, they were desperate to stop it. Earth's atmosphere absorbs the speed very quickly." Jack answers.
"50 million kilometers, ship goes around 100 000 . . . . the trip takes little over month." Isaac's elder son calculates.

"Ship is coming." Chin's elder daughter looks out from the window. The group finishes their coffees and pastries. 

After carrying empty cups, mugs and plates away, the group walks to the outlet door. To wait the ship.

The sight ship slows down. It anchors to the Orbital Station. After outlet tube is in it's place, group goes into the ship. They take their seats. The outlet tube is detached from the ship. The ship starts it's journey to Space Hotel.

- - Sight Ship - -

Robyn and Jack are sitting in the sight ship.
"She slept." Robyn says.
"I'll carry her to bed." Jack says. He takes the youngest and goes to another cabin with her.

"Why do these ships have beds and others ?" Chin's elder daughter asks.
"The first sight ships were very slow. A trip around Moon took almost two weeks." Isaac's wife explains.

"How fast they go now ?" Isaac's younger boy asks.
"Ten to twenty thousand kilometers per hour. Depends on the installed engine or rather accelerator-breaker version." elder boy knows.
"And the latest sight ships flies over 40 000 kilometers per hour. They make a trip to Moon and back in 20 hours. They have telescopic and very powerful flame throwers in the front." Jack comes back from the sleeping cabin.

"She is fine there ?" Robyn asks from Jack, who is just about sit down.
"Yes. Miss Popper is there with her and other kids. They are all sleeping." Jack answers.

The lights and windows in the passenger cabin are dimmed for Earth's night time. The electric engines are humming quietly in the cabin. Robyn leans on Jack. She closes her eyes. Quite soon she falls a sleep. Jack winds his arm around Robyn's shoulders.

The trip back to Space City continues. Every now and then the ship meets and greets cargo ships, which are delivering stuff from and to Moon.

- - Shared Cigarette - -

Isaac's wife comes from the sleeping cabin. She notices that Jack is still awake.
"Children are sleeping. Would you like to join me for a cigarette, in the bar." she asks from Jack.
"Why not." Jack says and walks to bar with Isaac's wife. 

Isaac's wife and Jack are the only customers in the bar.

Isaac's wife take Barbadian rum, Jack takes coffee.
"You do not drink anymore." Isaac's wife says.
"Gave up from excessive booze usage long time ago." Jack answers and offers light to Isaac's wife.

"You have an awesome wife." Isaac's wife says.
"I know . . . very glad, that I found and married Robyn." Jack answers. Honestly and quietly.

"Do you love her ?" Isaac's wife says.
"Very much . . . more than I can understand." Jack says.

The couple is quiet for a while.

"You didn't travel with Isaac." Jack says.
"He wanted me and kids to travel with you. You're a natural born survivor . . . if something happens, you and your ship are certain to survive . . . he said." Isaac's wife says.

Jack is quiet for a while, then he says "Thank you. Without Isaac and Chin we would be dead by now."

"I know. You saved them both." Isaac's wife says.

"It was long time ago . . . Don't know, who saved whom. I was up to my ears in troubles then." Jack answers.

Isaac's wife finishes her cigarette. "I think, that I go to sleep. Good night Jack."
"I think I stay here, and take another cup of coffee. Good night, sleep well." Jack says.

Isaac's wife leaves the bar.

Jack gets another cup of coffee and a pastry to himself. Then he comes back to the window table.

- - In the cockpit - -

Captain has gone to sleep. A co-pilot and radar operator are sitting in sight ship's cockpit.
"Not much to do." co-pilot says.
"No." radar operator says.

"Where's the rescue team ?" co-pilot asks.
"They have a brand new telescopic ship, with powerful engines, almost at the base already." radar operator answers.

"A small meteor swarm is coming from the lower east. It will cut our track." radar operator says.
"Okay." co-pilot takes the joystick. She opens the screen, and looks at the predicted track of the swarm. She changes the course of the ship.
"Swarm avoided." she confirms the changes in the course to radar operator.

"Was it ?" woman asks from the radar operator.
"Yes. Probably a left over from the storm." radar operator answers.

"Where is it now ?" co-pilot asks.
"Passed Mars's track and is heading back to space." operator answers.

Co-pilot and operator end the conversation and start to follow their monitors.

- - In the bar - -

Robyn comes to bar.

"Here you are darling. Just woke up, wondering where you are." Robyn says.
"Morning darling." Jack raises and goes to kiss Robyn.

"Coffee ?" Jack asks.
"Where's the waiter ?" Robyn asks.
"Self service. Asked, if he could go to sleep." Jack answers and goes to coffee maker.

"Donut with jelly filling ?" Jack asks from the counter.

Jack comes to Robyn with coffee and warmed donut. "Here you are darling."
"Thank you." Robyn asks.

"Fabric and clothing factory will be built in to Industrial Crater One. It gets the ground floor from the house 3 in the block 2" Jack informs Robyn.
"You took care of it already." Robyn says.
"Yes I was all alone here for an hour. Checked blueprints for industrial constructions in Iron City. Reserved space for the fabrics." Jack says.
"Thank you darling." Robyn says.

"You saved me and other passengers from awful crying and weeping . . . she had no intention to give up from shouting. The longer we waited, the worse it got . . . the least I could do for an angel. Or the savior." Jack comments.

"She was tired." Robyn says.
"She refused to sleep without you. If you tried to touch her, she shifted a new gear into a box. Lifted the shouting and crying into a new levels." Jack explains.
"Did you try ?" Robyn asks.
"Almost everyone tried before I called you." Jack answers.

"She is afraid of nightmares. Miss Popper said she woke up to one nightmare, when we were in the park." Robyn says.
"Sleeping like an angel now." Jack says.

- - Rescue Station - -

Rescue team's new sight ship approaches Rescue Base.

In the cockpit the captain drags the brake lever. Two tubes start to come out from the ship's front. After they reach the full length, their loose heads are set to fire. Slowly the flames hides the visibility to the front. The ship enters to the ocean of flames. The purpose of the heat and flames is to warm the air and increase air's friction in front of the ship.

In the cockpit the captain start to follow the speedometer. Slowly it lowers from 40 000 to 20 000 kilometers per hour.

"You are going too fast ! We are going to hit the station. With almost full speed." radar operator shouts to the captain.
"Damn. They said that these new ships stops as fast the old ones . . . Set fasten your belt lights on . . . Starting the maneuvers." captain shouts back.

The captain takes the ship to the manual control. He moves the joystick sharply to left.
"Still going directly towards the station." radar man reads the screen.
Captain looses the stick. "We have to pass the station and turn around."

The fasten your seatbelt lights are set. Right after the lights, the ship starts to keep noises.
"Here we go again." Alan says to other Thunderbirds.

"We have small difficulties with the breaks. We pass the rescue station, and turn around in the free space." radar operator speaks in the speakers.

The ship passes the station with over 5 000 km/h speed.
"There it was." one rescue team member looks out from the window.

The men in Rescue Base are having a coffee break.
"Look. Here it comes." one mechanic says when the ship becomes visible.
"And there it goes." another mechanic says after the flaming fireball passes the station.

"Wonder how far he goes this time." an elder mechanic comments the approach.
"Who is he ?" his apprentice asks.
"Every one calls him Grand-pa. He is the first sight ship pilot ever." elder mechanic answers.

"Too old and slow to fly ?" apprentice asks.
"No. He is very good pilot, but he is still using the old brake marks. " elder mechanic explains.
"You'll see when he comes back." a mechanic from the table says.
"They always give the newest ships to the best pilots." another mechanic says.

The flaming ball returns to the station. Captain extinguishes the flame throwers. The ship comes sideways to the strip. The captain straightens the ship quickly. Finally the ship stops right beside the wall. Right in front of the outlet tube.

"The first anchoring platforms didn't have flexible tubes and warmed strips. You always had to steer the ship right in front of the tube. In right angle." elder mechanic explains the show to his apprentice.

The chief engineer raises from his chair. "The Service Team ! Attention ! Grand Pa brought new engines for Monster. The break is over now. Must change all engines to Monster. Get the sonics into space as quickly as possible . . . Let's Go."

The mechanics raise and start to walk away from the dining room.

- - Briefing at Rescue Station - -

At the same time with mechanics leaving, the rescue team start to come to the dining room. The sonics' crew are not leaving the dining room. The captains are sitting in the same table.

"Here they come." Louis says to Charles, the captain of the Monster.
"Yes . . . By the way . . . The blown engine confused me a little. Forgot to ask, how was Pinky like. When you flew and tested it." Charles asks.
"They changed the right wing, and replaced the shields and broken body parts. Far from the way it was, but it flies quite well." Louis answers.

"You have any idea what was wrong with the defense system." Charles asks.
"One thing is at least sure. Pinky had an elder defense system. We, or rather she, were in Africa, when the new defense systems came. The upgrade parts to the defensive system were amongst the spare parts, they brought from Space City. They were not that important by the time they came . . . Jack was only preparing for his private full scaled war with the aliens . . . So boys forgot to install the new parts to the system . . . and never installed the parts to Pinky's defensive systems." Louis answers.

Grand Pa comes in as last. He goes to coffee makers and drinking units, and takes some juice to himself. Then he searches an empty table from the wall to himself.

"How did you get Pinky from him ?" Charles asks.
"He refused. Heard some rumors that his wife did not want him to fly Pinky. So I got it." Louis answers.

"Not a very social person." Charles says.
"He likes to be alone. Hardly ever speaks with the others." Louis says.

Chin and his sergeant come to the dining room. They walk to the front of it.

"They are having a briefing." Charles says after Chin and his sergeant come.

"Attention. The Rescue Team." sergeant begins the shouting.
"We leave the base tomorrow afternoon." Chin informs.
"The construction project is far from finished. We are currently building green houses and park to the storage two." sergeant says.

"Taking part to the project is volunteer. Be sure to rest and prepare well for tomorrow. Sleep if you are tired. We have a war to win." Chin says to his rescue team.

"After the savages are beaten, we bring the first refugees to Space City. There are one thousand people in the shelters. From these around 300 are eligible for the rescue." sergeant explains.

"Both Pinky and Monster are bringing people from the shelters and caves to here. We will stay in Fairy Tale castle during the time Monster is needed for the rescue flights. After we have loaded Pinky and Monster with things we wanted from Castle, we fly back to here." Chins says.

"Isaac and other scientists want to have samples from the meteors on the Earth . . . One small team leaves the island after the savages are beaten. The special team will dress to the new thicker radiation suits. The team sails to Venezuela, and searches the rocks from there." sergeant says.

"Should warn you about one thing. We do not know how the people, who are not saved, react to us and our mission. You must be very careful also inside the shelters." Chin warns the team members.

"All rescue teams come to the island." sergeant says.
"After we get Barbados and island, we start to work in three shifts." Chin adds.

"That's all . . . Continue !" sergeant ends the briefing.

After the briefing Chin and his sergeant take food and drink. They join the sonic captains at captains table.

- - Sight Ship restaurant : On the way to Space City - -

The slower sight ship is halfway on it's trip from Moon to Space City. Robyn and Jack are sitting alone in ship's restaurant. Jack gets a SMS to his phone. After reading it, he turns on the big screen.

"Swarm of meteors accompanies the solar storm. Reaching Iron City right now." Jack says. 
"Jack. What are you doing ?" Robyn asks.
"Searching the channels which send live footage from the iron towers. Interesting to see how the big cones react to the meteors. The cones for Moon are slightly different than in Space City." Jack says.
"Gravity gives meteors weight and more power in Moon." Robyn says.
"Yes . . . Look there it is." Jack finds the right channel to the screen. 

Robyn and Jack watches how the first random meteors hit the cones of Iron City. The meteors bounces from the elastic cone. After touching the cone, the elastic cone swings the meteors back to space. A big meteor comes to the screen. It comes closer to the camera and cones.

Robyn and Jack get a bit nervous.
"Wonder how it goes." Robyn says.
"Now it comes." Jack looks at the screen.

A big blast comes out from the speakers. On the screen, the upper cone cracks.
"It is coming through." Robyn says. The meteor breaks the cone. The camera stops following the meteor. It shows how the pieces of the cone flies to all over the space. At the same time with the blast, the big gates to the broken quarters are closed.

"Still four more cones to hold it." Jack explains with tensioned voice. 

"Hitting the second cone." Robyn relates the events on the screen. The second cone cracks with a big noise.
"Almost stopped it." Jack comments after the meteor breaks through the 2nd cone.
"It does not have power to break the third and fourth cones." Robyn wishes.

Finally the meteor stops to the third cone with a small bump. Then it slides down over the third cone.

"Darling would you like to have something to drink. Barbadian Rum perhaps ?" Jack asks Robyn.
"Blend it a little." Robyn says. Jack goes to the counter, and makes drinks for the both.

"What do you think, are they strong enough ?" Robyn asks after Jack comes back with the glasses.
"They said, that the first cone will stop the meteors. They will never brake the second cone." Jack worries.

"Should we enforce the cone ?" Robyn asks.
"They have lots of cone parts in the storage. Building them all the time." Jack says.
"If we built sixth cone layer over the fifth. And start to use thicker cones in other parts of the Iron City." Robyn proposes.

Jack thinks Robyn's proposal. Finally he speaks.

"We do not have any carbon to waste. The calculations and estimations did fail. Something should be done." Jack says and continues "The cone cells are rounded for certain radius . . . . then the seams and crossings must be aligned to the column system . . . sizes and grids are different . . . might be better if we used six layers in all Moon constructions . . . you know how many cells they have already made ?"

"When we were in Moon, they said, they have cells for two more quarters and three parks. We could build the quarters and parks with five cones, and add the sixth cone afterwards . . . and after they are ready." Robyn says.
"Sounds nice." Jack answers.

"Okay. I'll write instructions to the chief constructor right away." Robyn says and takes her phone from the pocket. 

Robyn starts to write instructions to the constructors. Jack watches the live broadcast from Iron City.

"Did they evacuate people ?" Robyn holds a break from writing. Jack presses the info button on the remote. The screen is shaded. The data about the event comes on the screen. Over the live footage. 

Robyn tries to read the text, it is too small for her eyes. Jack looks Robyn's efforts to read the text for a moment.
"They were evacuated to the mines." Jack reads the screen to Robyn. 

Robyn finishes the instructions to the constructors. She sends the message and puts the phone back to her handbag.

"What is the situation ?" Robyn starts to watch the swarm with Jack. 
"Six hundred against three. So far three meteors have broken the outer cone." Jack responds.
"Could be worse. Like three rejected and six hundred touch downs. Iron City lost forever." Robyn says.

"Where are your spectacles, have you lost them ?" Jack wonders.
"No. They are in the bag." Robyn answers.

"When we started dating, you always said, that I am very beautiful with spectacles." Robyn memorizes.
"I lied. You looked awful." Jack answers.

"You wanted me to keep them all the time." Robyn continues.
"Yes. The spectacles helped me to keep you less attractive to the other suitors." Jack explains.

"You never told me that before." Robyn says.
"Khrrm . . . Love justified my actions and speeches . . . Got to keep some things in secret" Jack defends himself.

"You were not in love in my looks." Robyn comments.
"I was and I am in love with you as a woman. A living person." Jack answers.

Robyn puts the contacts into her eyes. She takes a drink. Jack follows her.

"Darling." Robyn says to Jack.
"Yes darling" Jack answers.
"People are waiting something. From you." Robyn says.
"Chose the crater already. Making plans for the attractions in my spare time. Brought one landscaping mirror system to Moon's orbit. We are testing it in the theme park crater." Jack says.

Robyn takes and lights a cigar. Jack grabs a cigarette from his pocket.

"Could we use the mirrors against savages" Robyn asks.
"They are too powerful. They melt the ground and they would kill our own people too." Jack answers.

Robyn and Jack are watching their glasses, each other and the swarm on the screen.

"Look." Robyn says.
"Isaac's carbon collector." Jack comments new footage on the screen.
"It is built from old space mirror." Robyn looks at the screen.
"Wonder where they found the very old mirror unit. Haven't used those for ages." Jack wonders.
"Probably from some abandoned storage." Robyn says.

On the screen there is an old space mirror. The mirrors have been replaced with some kind of fabric. The fabric stops and gather all meteors and rocks from the space. The camera shows close up from the mirrors' grid. The mirrors have been replaced with fishnet bags.

"He lets the air go through." Jack says.
"Much like fishing." Robyn adds.

A bigger fast forwarding meteor hits the bag. The bag slows it down. The bag stretches. Finally the meteor breaks the bag and the surrounding grid. A group of meteors escapes from the collector's filter and material grabber. The rocks vanishes in to collector's gas gatherer tubes.

"And he scores." Robyn comments the event.

The swarm continues on the screen. Every now and then the screen shows footage from Moon. Iron City and it's surroundings.

"Could try to sleep few hours before we arrive." Robyn says.

Jack takes the glasses and plates to the kitchen. Robyn closes the screen. Robyn goes to the kitchen door to wait Jack. After Jack comes back Robyn and Jack leave the restaurant.

Robyn and Jack are walking away from the restaurant.

"Jack. I am going to leave you." Robyn says to Jack.
"Why ?" Jack asks.
"Found Love." Robyn says.
"Have you been with him for a long ?" Jack asks.
"He is she." Robyn says.
"He is she." Jack wonders.
"I am a lesbian. Jack" Robyn says.

Jack swallows the news for a while.

"Lesbian." Jack says.
"Yes Jack. Her name is Melissa." Robyn answers.

"What about the children ?" Jack asks.
"I'll take them." Robyn answers.
"I was thinking about . . ." Jack begins, then he continues "So. You want them."
"Yes Jack. I want them." Robyn confirms.
"You want the penthouse. The only bigger residence in here." Jack inquiries.
"No. We take an apartment from Iron City." Robyn says.

"Are you going to continue your work ?" Jack asks
"No Jack. We want to start a new life." Robyn says.

"Wish you didn't leave me. If there ever was a woman I wanted. It was you Robyn." Jack says.
"Jack. I don't want to see or hear about you never again. I hate you." Robyn says.

"You're not kidding." Jack says.
"No Jack. I am not kidding." Robyn answers.

"I see." Jack says quietly. "Well. It's a goodbye and good luck for your life then."

Robyn and Jack walk quietly back to their seats.

"You didn't answer. How long ?" Jack asks Robyn.
"Not very long, few weeks." Robyn says.

"Why do you hate me. Have I ever done or said anything bad for you ?" Jack gets curious.
"No" Robyn says.
"Have I ever made you feel second, or subdued ?" Jack continues.
"No" Robyn answers.
"You just hate the way I am ?" Jack tries.
"No Jack. We found love." Robyn replies.

"Why did you marry me, in the first place ?" Jack asks.
"We were meant to be with each other. Just like you said to me." Robyn says.

"Yes. That's what I said, when I proposed you." Jack answers.

"Why did you marry me ?" Robyn asks.
"You were the nicest and kindest woman I had ever known. And you were born to the same life cycle with me." Jack answers.

"And you were young and very beautiful then." Jack adds.

"You love her and want to go with her ?" Jack says after a while.
"Yes." Robyn answers.

"I will never take you back after you go." Jack says.
"I'll go and live with her." Robyn responds.

"Then you go." Jack finishes the conversation about the break up and divorce.

Robyn takes her phone, and starts to write a hot love note to Melissa. 

Jack notices it. He raises from his seat and goes to restaurant. Alone. Jack's long term friend and assistant, Tiffany, has noticed the turbulences between the couple. She watches how Jack goes to restaurant.

Jack enters the restaurant. He takes a bottle of whiskey from the bar to himself. He goes to a boxed table with the bottle. He makes a drink for himself. Then he goes to the audio system, and starts to listen Boys' Space Covers. 

Jack is sitting alone in the table. Tiffany comes to the restaurant. She sits beside Jack.

"What's now ?" Tiffany asks Jack.
"Robyn is leaving me." Jack answers.
"Why ?" Tiffany asks.
"She found love." Jack replies.

"What about your kids ?" Tiffany asks.
"She takes them. They like and love her better than me." Jack says.

"Care for a drink ?" Jack points the whiskey bottle.
"No thanks." Tiffany answers.

The couple sits quietly in the table.

"What is this music, I have never heard of it." Tiffany breaks the silence.
"It's from the album I made for Robyn . . . Long time ago." Jack answers.
"When you started to date and be together." Tiffany asks.
"Yes." Jack confirms.

"You want to come to me." Tiffany asks.
"What ever you say and want. I'm finders keepers. Been like that ever since I got the brain damage. I'll die if I am left alone."  Jack answers.
"Well. Do you want me Jack ?" Tiffany gets interested.
"I already told you. You can come to me, she didn't want the penthouse to herself and kids." Jack replies.

"I'm a bit tired. You want to stay alone ?" Tiffany raises from the table.
"Yes. I would love to finish this bottle alone." Jack says.

Tiffany walks away from the restaurant.

Sight Ship enters Space Hotel.

Robyn and children come to entrance lobby. Melissa is waiting Robyn in there. Jack and Tiffany follow Robyn and children. Robyn walks to Melissa and the couple hugs each other.

Jack and Tif watch the greetings from a distance. Looks like that children are already familiar with Melissa. Robyn, Melissa and children leave the lobby.

"What now ?" Tif asks Jack.
"Robyn and children are not coming to penthouse anymore." Jack answers.
"You really want me to move there  ?" Tif asks.
"Would be happy if you did so." Jack replies.

"We are talking about long term relationship here ?" Tif inquiries.
"Yes. Of course." Jack answers. Then he puts his hand over Tiffany's shoulder. The couple leaves the lobby.
